Denise Umubyeyi
Denise Umubyeyi is the co-founder and COO of Five to Nine, a software company that enables organizations to manage and measure the impact of their employee programs and events. A natural problem solver, Denise enjoys helping clients maximize their ERGs and other employee programs to create inclusive workplace environments. Denise hails from Rwanda and has lived in the Chicago area since 2005. On her off time, Denise enjoys knitting, journaling, and writing and performing comedy.
Dr. Cynthia Overton
Cynthia Overton is director of tech workplace initiatives at the Kapor Center, a racial justice organization dedicated to leveling the playing field in tech. In this role, she organizes Diversity Advocates, a professional learning community dedicated to creating a diverse and inclusive workforce in tech and Our Collective, a group of tech professionals advancing inclusion for Black and Latinx talent through ERGs. When Cynthia’s not working, she’s probably writing or performing comedy--much of which aims to draw attention to social justice issues.
Dr. Danette “Danni” Buie
Danette D. Buie serves as a Senior Program Manager in Talent Programs and Diversity at Coursera. In this role, she partners with a variety of recruiting, human resources and learning and development leaders to develop, simplify, and scale diverse talent hiring solutions. Prior to pivoting to tech, Danni worked for 10 years in education, focusing on K-12, community- based organizations, public policy, and higher education.
Meghan Boots
Meghan Boots has worked for top Silicon Valley companies including Adobe and Autodesk and managed marketing and business strategy for leading tech brands including mobile apps and virtual reality products. Today she is a social justice advocate, tech consultant, and social entrepreneur as the founder of Spur by Boots ーa marketing firm that works with businesses led by traditionally underrepresented people, to guide and move forward projects that amplify unheard voices to advance diversity and inclusion.
Lisa Paredes
Lisa Paredes joined Beaconforce as their first employee to be a part of their mission to create work environments that allow people to be their best selves. Originally from Guatemala, Lisa moved to San Francisco and found her passion in the people space. Her love for community and culture led her to be a co-founder of The Culture Collective, a global community of culture champions with 30 chapters around the world. Her personal purpose is to assist people in their discovery of their full potential.
Shawnda Madison
Shawnda Madison has been at Invitae for the last year focusing on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion helping create 7 ERG's providing resources and learning opportunities to the organization. Before Invitae, she spent the last five years focusing on people operations, helping companies build culture and community. She is a people-first leader committed to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for all.
